Joined a Life Drawing class. First time at this since college. 20 years ago.
Funny how things come back... we had amazing instructors, but it was always a weak spot with me.
It was great getting back into it. Class is 3hrs and it seems like 20 minutes. Time just flies.
People that know me here, are probably suprised to see this content since 99% of my work is Ferrari related. But this is something i wanted to return to for some time. Hope y'all like it.
Bad News
Our little Tia (3 year old Yorkie - as cute as the day is long) required vet care to the tune of $1100. She came thru it alright and she is back to her lovable self. But it was touch and go for a bit there. You dont realize how much you love these little things until something like this happens...
Now i just gotta pay the bill...
Good News
The gallery (same place thats holding the Drawing class, so i am getting to know the owners quite well) is definitly open to a show of my work. It was looking like June, but it got bumped. So if i get a good presentation together maybe the summer will come thru for me.
Bad News
I have 5 or so watercolours that i want to enter but are not framed. F430 reflections cost me 250 WITH using a $200 prize i won at their juried show last year. I have one prize left and that obviously isnt going to cover the five left to do. I am looking for cheaper ways to do this without looking like i was using cheaper ways to do this... quite a trick...
Good News
Feburary i got my best year-end-review ever at work. Have been using my Photography skills on my own time and catalogueing the pics on Photobucket. My Ferrari shots have been used at least a dozen times in ads last year and customers of such businesses (auto repair, towing, glass repair, auto detailing) have been thrilled. As well did a series of shots of some construction vehicles that have come in handy as well. My manager thought the world of that... really impressed her.
Also, it came to her attention, that i am only one of three of the entire office that still draws. New hires are looked at for their program and desktop publishing skills, and most of the older hires have abandonded the skill. I still love it and have kept it up, so i am one of the few go-to people for any ad that requires it.. Kinda makes one feel valuable...
little did i know...
Bad news
March we heard our whole Graphics department at work is being moved to Indiana, USA at the end of June. Almost 20 years there. We bought out a company last summer that supplied programs and code for pagination and such... turns out they have a large contracted-out group of work-at-home idiots - sorry - artists - that can churn out garbage - sorry - the work - at half the money or so. My 20 years seniority will get me placed somewhere else in the office but havent heard exactly what or for how long THAT will last...
That just sucks on so many levels...
So... some good things, but some much more major things that just sucks...
